Carla and Andy
How We Met
Andy and I have known each other since middle school but our friendship didn’t bloom until after college. We both love the Jersey Shore and spent a lot of time down there with friends every summer. One night I went to visit a friend at her house and to get ready for the night. After getting ready, I made my way downstairs and saw Andy sitting at the bottom of the steps. I sat down, we started chatting, and the rest is history. After that night on the steps, we kept bumping into each other at random places. No, like actually bumping into each other — on the dance floor in Atlantic City, at local bars around town and of course, our favorite Jersey Shore bar, Djais. A summer of bumping into each other led to our first date in the Fall of 2014. Fast forward to the fall of 2016 – we moved into our first apartment together thanks to Andy’s parents Diane and Andy! Life with Andy has been full of adventure and endless laughter. With two cruises, a Disney vacation under our belts, and a future trip to Italy planned, I can’t imagine exploring and experiencing life with any one else. We are getting married in the Fall of 2018, as it seems like fall when we like to start life changing adventures together. Only in 2018, it’ll be a forever kind of adventure and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
How He Asked
About a week before Andy proposed, a messaged popped up in a group chat with friends saying, “Hey we’re doing a shoot in the city on Saturday, do you guys wanna meet up after?” Our friends are in the photography/videographer business so this seemed completely normal plus, we are always looking for new adventures so it was an answer – we were in! Little did I know these plans were a set up and that Saturday would end up becoming one of the most important days of my life! Saturday finally arrived. We get on a train, headed into New York City and made our way to Smorgasburg in Brooklyn. For those who aren’t familiar with the NYC area, Smorgasburg is a totally awesome spot with a little beach area that overlooks Manhattan and great food vendors! The view is so amazing it ended up being the perfect backdrop for Andy to pop the question! After enjoying our go-to-favorites, mozzarella sticks and dumplings, we made our way to the beach and of course, since our professional photographer friends were there, I begged Andy for a picture. As we turned around he grabbed both of my hands and at that moment I was in complete SHOCK! I don’t remember what he actually said but I do remember saying, “YES!” I couldn’t believe it was actually happening and that my best friend was asking me to marry him. It literally felt like a dream. Thank you so much to our friends Paul, Esy, Bert, and Kim for helping/making it the best day ever! We celebrated all night!
