Caitlin and Adam
How We Met
Right before starting high school, my family moved to a new town. The first time I laid eyes on Adam we were in the 10th grade and only 15 years old. The first night I met him, he stole my first kiss. Naturally we had chemistry after that, but became only friends. It wasn’t until two years after college that we reconnected and tried dating. The rest is history. He stole my first kiss back then and now he’s stolen my heart.
How He Asked
Autumn is my favorite time of year. My favorite place to spend it is out on the North Fork of Long Island. So when Adam asked me to take a limo out to the wineries with some of our closest friends, I didn’t think anything of it.
We woke up to beautiful weather and I told Adam that I had a feeling it was going to be a great day. Little did I know what an understatement that would soon be. We spent the afternoon sipping wine with our friends and then Adam asked me to take a walk with him through the vineyards. We had done this before and he told me there was a lake off to the side that he wanted to show me.
When we got to the lake, I noticed a small table set up beneath a beautiful arbor. It was set with glasses and champagne and surrounded by rose petals. When I saw this, I pointed it out to Adam and told him how sweet it was that someone had set this up for their girl. He chuckled and continued to lead me over to the table. Imagine my surprise when the front of the card on the table read, “Caitlin 10.11.15” He told me to read the card, but at that point I could see him fiddling in his pocket and dropping to one knee. I was entirely overwhelmed by what was about to happen that I simply stared at the card, but couldn’t process a thing! I finally had enough sense to put it down and look at him.
The most perfect moment of my life was somewhat of a blur. The first thing I remember was squatting down to kiss him and told him to stand up so I could hug him. By the time I let go, I realized I couldn’t remember what happened and told him YES a hundred more times before finally looking at my beautiful ring! The moment was absolutely perfect and real (and captured by an amazing photographer!). Our friends emerged from the vines and joined us in a celebratory toast. To top off the day, all of our closest family members met us for a surprise engagement dinner. We even spent the night out east at a incredible B&B. Even with my wild imagination, I could not have dreamed up a more perfect day or man. I am the luckiest girl in the world.
