Brittney and Michael
How We Met:
It was the very end of Summer 2013 and my friends were raving about that crazy app called Tinder. For a little bit of fun, I decided to download it without having any intentions of meeting anyone. After a few days of having the app, I matched up with Michael and we started messaging each other. A couple weeks went by and he asked to take me out on a date. I was instantly excited but so nervous because I’ve never tried this “online dating” thing before.
I have to say, talking to Michael was different than any other conversation I had with a guy. I was always excited to talk to him and I never got one weird vibe, which is why I knew I had to meet this guy. Michael took me out to an Italian restaurant called Figlio, which is in a cute little town in Ohio called Grandview. From then on, we were inseparable. Fast forward to two years later, we are engaged, I am finishing up my graduate work, and Michael is working as an attorney in Columbus, Ohio. We are as happy as ever and feeling so blessed!
How He Asked:
It is no secret that my fiancé and his family are obsessed with Disney World. After two years, I finally got the opportunity to go on a trip with Michael and his parents. We were staying for seven nights at the Boardwalk Villas Resort, which I highly recommend by the way! On our very first day we walked to Epcot from our resort and went to a character meal called Garden Grill for an early dinner. This meal definitely got everyone in the Disney mood! After dinner, we went on Soarin’, which is one of the best rides in Disney, in my opinion!
Then, Michael told me that it was time to go back to the hotel to get ready for the evening and then we were heading to Magic Kingdom. For some odd reason, Michael was in a rush and didn’t give me too much time to get ready. Good thing I was having a great hair day! We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and walked up to the photographer that was taking pictures in front of Cinderella’s Castle. Michael told me that he wanted to get our picture but he had to call his mom to find out where she went. Michael got off the phone with this mom and told me to go ahead and get in line for our picture. When it was our turn, I walked up and posed for the picture and Michael turned around and grabbed my hands. He gave a little speech and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
There was a crowd of people yelling and cheering for us, I was so surprised! But of course I said yes!!!
Unexpectedly, Michael’s mom came running around the corner with my mom and dad! Michael set everything up so my parents could fly out to Disney World and watch the proposal! I was so speechless and overwhelmed with emotions; I had tears running down my face.
I have never felt such a rush of emotions and in that moment I was the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. When everything started to settle in a bit, we went to Grand Floridian’s restaurant, Narcoossee’s, to celebrate! We got a bottle of champagne, appetizers, and desserts! Then, we went out to the lake and watched Magic Kingdom’s Wishes Fireworks Show. It was truly a magical proposal at Walt Disney World!
