Brittany and Syng
How We Met
It all started in summer 2010 when I was recently single and had just graduated from highschool. My girlfriends and I got a beach house to celebrate. My best friend Julia was dating Blake at the time who is best friends with Syng and she told me they were both coming to the beach house. For some reason I got butterflies in my stomach, even though I had never hung out with Syng I always saw him hanging out with us and he was older so I thought he was really cool (still think he is cool). Syng and I instantly connected when he came to the beach house. We exchanged numbers and texted almost everyday since, but just as friends.
When I went to college I started visiting Syng in Boston a lot and started realizing that my feelings for him were stronger than just liking him as a friend. When I told him my feelings for him, he didn’t seem to believe me. He admitted to me he liked me too but was scared to ruin our friendship. So we didn’t text for a couple days until a few days later he invited me over to watch the town. I will never forget it. It was a rainy day and he held me close in his arms and it felt so right. Since then Syng and I have been dating for over 5 years. He has become my best friend and soul-mate. We are a team and do everything together. I am so beyond happy we decided to become more than just best friends and now I get to spend the rest of my life with him.
How He Asked
Syng and I had dinner plans for the weekend of Valentines day and I didn’t think he would propose because we are not ones to get all hyped up over Valentines day. So as we are heading to dinner in the cab he made the driver stop at a street over from the restaurant. I was very confused, but I just went with it. He took me to a path where all the trees were lit up and it was snowing just enough that it was actually beautiful to be in. We walk to the middle of the path and I see someone taking pictures but just thought it was someone taking pictures of the trees (not knowing it was my sisters best friend who takes professional pictures for fun). As I am looking around, Syng grabs my hand and says: “Brittany, we have known each-other for forever and you have always supported me through thick and thin. I can’t picture my life without you in it so I must ask, will you please marry me?”
I of course said yes without even having to think. It was just so simple, so us and I was the happiest woman in the entire world. It was a dream and it did not feel real to me. I couldn’t stop holding him and just thinking how lucky I am to have found my soul mate. As we get to the restaurant we had reservations at, he opens the door and there is all of our family and friends to celebrate with us! I had no idea and lost it.
I was just so happy and could not believe he pulled this off. It was the most amazing night of my life to have spent it with my fiancé and all the people we love.
