Britt and Max

How We Met

We met in South Carolina serving a service mission for our church. We are both members the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We were both placed around the area of Simpsonville, SC where we met at a meeting. We had a mutual friend and Max came right up to me because he had heard so much about me. It scared me, haha but we got to talking and became friends. We worked around each other for three months. After that, I went home and wrote Max emails for six months until he came home.

Shortly after, he visited me in California, he’s from Arizona, and we went on our first date. We went and looked out at the San Francisco Bay where we had our first kiss and he asked me to be his girlfriend. We’ve dated for a year long distance while I did school in California and him in Utah. I moved to Idaho in August for school and we were only four hours apart. We saw each other almost every weekend.

How He Asked

Whenever I asked he always told me I was “going to be on cloud nine.” I didn’t know what that meant except that it was going to be the best day of my life. He had told me on Thanksgiving when I was visiting his mom, that we needed to go to bed early to see the sunrise. The next day, Black Friday, we woke up super early to drive out in the middle of nowhere. We met up with these men in white vans with trailers and they took us out to an Arizona desert.

They started setting up these huge hot air balloons and we got to help too. It was so amazing and fun. We were up in the air and he got down on one knee and told me life is so much better with me and he couldn’t imagine living a day without me. He asked me to marry him and of course, I said yes. I really was on cloud nine.
