Brie and Kasey
How we met: Kasey and I met because he got a job at the radio station that I worked for. I admit that at first I wasn’t happy that he got hired because he was always bugging me when I was trying to do serious work. Imagine trying to record a segment when someone keeps peeking through the door and making you laugh. A few weeks after he got hired he invited me to go snowboarding in McCall, Idaho. He said that a couple of friends were going and staying at a cabin. I didn’t feel comfortable with it at first, so I told him I’d have to ask my parents. Of course, I never did.
He continued to bug me about it every few minutes, so I finally did ask and my dad agreed as long as I wasn’t interested in any of the boys that were going. At that exact second, I wasn’t lying. I told Kasey I wanted my little brother to go and he didn’t hesitate saying yes.
All it took was one snowboarding trip and we were in love. We have been inseparable ever since; almost four years now. In August, of next year, he will be my husband.
How he asked: My friend Liza and I do photography together and we often ask each other to stand in as a model for a shoot that we have in mind. On this particular Thursday Liza asked me if I would model for her as she tried out a new idea on her camera. I didn’t ask much of it because we do this kind of this all the time. We went up on Table Rock, which is basically a gorgeous hill in Idaho’s capitol where we love capturing sunsets. We took several photos before Liza said, “Oh my gosh you guys, look at the sunset! Kasey will you please get in a photo with Brie??” He threw a FIT! He said, “You girls know I hate photos! Seriously, why do I always get drug into this kind of stuff?” But….finally….he agreed.
Little did I know we were about to take the photo of my dreams. Liza asked me to put my head on Kasey’s chest for a photo. I love this particular pose so I did it without any hesitations. As soon as I put my head on his chest I noticed that his heart was about to beat out of his chest!!! I leaned back to ask him what was wrong and BOOM he plopped down on one knee!!! He said, “Brie, will you marry me?” That was it. Short, sweet, and to the point. I just sat there with tears in my eyes, until he finally said, “So, are you going to answer me?” All that excitement and I forgot the most important part!
