Brianna and Dylan
Dylan and I first met when I was fifteen years old. We lived in the same neighborhood, rode the same bus, and attended the same school. However it wasn’t until mutual friends introduced us that we became acquaintances. This relationship escalated quickly to close friends, and even more quickly to dating. As with most high school relationships, things ended when Dylan and I graduated and found ourselves attending different universities. However, this did not keep us from maintaining our friendship. Fast forward a year and a half, Dyl and I realized that there was still something more to our friendship, and that we could not deny it anymore. This was January of 2013, and we have been inseparable ever since.
How he asked: Saturday, November 15 was just like any other day. Dylan had told me earlier in the week that he was planning a date night for us since we hadn’t gotten to spend much time together recently. Like any date with Dylan, I was really looking forward to it because we always do exciting, different things together. When we pulled up to the new Cumberland park at Riverfront in downtown Nashville, I was not surprised, as this was a spot Dylan and I had started off a couple of our previous dates. We walked out on the platform that looks over the river and has the most fantastic view of the Nashville skyline. We spent a few minutes talking about what the rest of our date night would look like before I noticed that Dylan was pulling a ring box out of his pocket. He dropped down to one knee and said a lot of beautiful things before asking me to marry him. I was shocked and surprised and hysterical and so in love. He pointed back to the direction we had come from and told me to smile for the camera. Standing there was my mentor/photographer friend Hayley, my very best friend Lizzy, and my sister Tiffany. I could not believe what had just happened. We spent the rest of the night at a romantic one-on-one dinner at a Nashville restaurant, celebrating with both of our families, and attending a huge surprise engagement party thrown by our best friends! It was the best and most magical night of my life, one that I will never forget.
