Briana and Bradley

How We Met

Bradley and I first met at Michigan State University during both of our senior years of college in fall of 2013. We met through mutual friends and we knew we had something truly special right from the beginning. After being inseparable for about two short weeks, Bradley asked me to be his girlfriend. We spent a very memorable senior year together falling in love. Upon graduation from MSU in 2014, Bradley received a job offer in Boston and I was headed to attend pharmacy school in Michigan. We both supported each other to follow our dream jobs and goals, even if it meant we’d be apart for an unknown amount of time. We had a long-distance relationship for what seemed like a lifetime. However, the distance finally ended after four years. They say there is something about distance that makes the heart grow fonder. That was definitely the case in our love story. The long distance could FINALLY come to an end after I graduated from pharmacy school. We then both received job opportunities in North Carolina, where we currently live today.

How He Asked

The proposal was something out of a dream. We flew home from North Carolina back to Michigan for my birthday weekend. That Friday morning Brad had me pampered at the hair and nail salon while he was busy planning this day to magically come together (with me having absolutely NO idea!).

Anyone who is close to me knows how much I love the beautiful fall scenery and the changing colors of the leaves. We had plans to spend part of our day at the local cider mill (where we had one of our first dates) to do fun fall activities. I was so excited! After getting some must-have doughnuts and cider, Brad suggested walking down the boardwalk along the water. We walked for a while and eventually, he took me down a pathway that was surrounded by the water and fall leaves. Just as we were looking around at the scenery, Bradley turned me around and expressed his love for me. It was at that moment he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I, of course, screamed YES!

He then turned me around once more so I could see both of our whole families pop out of the trees and bushes. I was so surprised! We were all able to celebrate that special moment together with lots of smiles, happy tears, laughs, and champagne. Our lovely and amazing photographer was able to catch all the joy and emotion that was happening during that magical moment.

Once we left the proposal spot, Bradley surprised me with a fun party bus that took us to an elegant celebratory dinner that we shared with our families. It was truly a day and night I will never forget and the proposal of my dreams!
