Bri and Tony
How We Met
Tony and I met through online dating. We started talking on October 5, 2014 and went on our first date on October 11th, 2014. Tony and I met at Eastview Mall, walked over to Champps for dinner, followed by an Amerk’s hockey game. Tony drove us to the hockey game (even though my mom suggested I drive by myself, sorry mom!). I remember holding hands in the car, as well as walking to and from the game. He opened doors for me and I just remember thinking how amazing the feeling was to be on a date with a real gentleman. After the game, he drove me back to my car, we said good night, and as Tony was walking away I asked him for a kiss. We “officially” started dating on November 22, 2014. And we’ve been together ever since!
How He Asked
On June 16, 2017, Tony and I went to the Florida Georgia Line Concert @ Darien Lake. I had recently had foot surgery and couldn’t walk very well, so we brought my wheel chair with us. We entered the concert (let’s be honest, bringing a wheelchair to a concert with thousands of people… bad idea), it was a challenge from the start. We had lawn tickets, it took us a solid 10 minutes to get through the crowds, when we finally got to the front of the lawn, I couldn’t even see because the bar of the gate was at my eye level (oh no!).
So, we (Tony, myself and two of our friends) decided to talk to security. Surprisingly, the security was extremely helpful! After talking to guest services and admissions, a supervisor came up to us and offered us a spot on a private deck (not in the lawn, yay!), it was PERFECT! Little did I know, I was going to be proposed to. After we were settled and having fun, Tony wanted to finally take pictures (I had asked him to take some while we were tailgating and he said he would rather take pictures inside the venue. I didn’t think anything of it. He hates pictures, but I am a picture freak!) So, he pushes my wheelchair out of the way and his friends take our picture, I noticed the flash wasn’t on (it was dark out), so I do the “picture motion” and ask for flash… as I am distracted in doing that, Tony gets down on one knee and proposes. I was in COMPLETE shock, I had NO idea this was happening.
He had the ring in his shirt pocket the entire time. I was literally speechless, to this day he still says I didn’t answer him. But I shook my head yes and started to cry (#UglyCry)!
