Breathtaking Double Rainbow Proposal
How we met: Noel & I grew up in the same home town in Long Island, New York. We first met in junior high school, when my cousin (who was also in our grade and was friends with Noel), suggested that a group of us go to see “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. Thirteen years old and awkward as can be, I remember thinking Noel was reeeally cute. So as you can imagine, I was extremely excited to be sitting next to him during a scary teen movie where I could hide my head in his arm (wink wink). Well, nothing romantic ensued but we remained good friends from that point on. We would always find each other at Sweet 16’s to dance salsa and merengue together (specifically to the popular song at the time, “Suavemente”). After we graduated, Noel & I both went to off to college and naturally, we lost touch. One day, about 10 years later, a notification popped up on Facebook that Noel had changed his profile picture. It was a picture of him looking out over Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, where I had heard he moved to years before. I decided to comment on his new profile pic, while hinting at the fact that I would love to visit San Diego sometime soon! Noel responded to my comment, saying he had actually moved back to New York and suggested we grab a drink together sometime. So we did!! And well… the rest is history.
How he asked: Noel asked me to marry him at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego. Its beauty was two-fold. Besides being a picture perfect location, it was also symbolic as this was the place where our relationship, in a way, really began. Every moment with him is a gift for me, it really is. And this moment was no different.
As we looked out onto the water, he reminded me that this was the place where it all began, and said many other beautiful things about who we are as a couple (as Noel does every day). He said that his life was always great, but had become that much more special ever since we started our journey together. He then added, that if there were ever a place to propose to me, this would be it.
The next I knew, he was down on one knee, opening a box with a beautiful ring inside of it, and said….. “will you marry me?”. I could not believe my eyes – here was my best friend, and the love of my life, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. So as you can imagine, I said YES YES YES!!!
