Dominik and Victoria's Box Of Chocolates Proposal in New Orleans

How we met – by Dominik: We actually met in the law school library. She was in her first year at LSU Law, and I was in my last. A mutual friend was my co-counsel in a trial advocacy competition, and we were preparing for trial in the library when Victoria sat next to her. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and I awkwardly tried to make conversation. I am a history nerd, so I asked about the symbol on her bracelet, which I thought was the Cross of the Knights of St. John. It wasn’t. It was Tory Burch. She laughed, and we kept talking from there. Eventually, she asked me for outlines for a class I had done well in, but I wouldn’t give them to her until she promised to go on a date with me. She did, and a year and a half later, I asked her if she would marry me. She makes me a better person every day, and I couldn’t imagine a life without her. I knew not long after we had started dating that she was the one. She is caring, thoughtful, brilliant, and beautiful; and I wanted to create the perfect day to ask her to be my wife.

How we met – by Victoria: Dominik and I met in the LSU Law Library. He was two years ahead of me in law school and I heard he got the top grade in a class I needed notes for. I asked him if he had an outline and he told me he’d rather bring it to me in person than send it by email. We made plans to meet at a restaurant near campus the next day.

Fast forward to the restaurant, and every time I brought up the outline, he wouldn’t give it to me! He kept changing the subject. I had to go back to campus, so I cut the conversation short. He walked me back, and on the way, we checked on some college baseball games. When we tuned in to his school (Vanderbilt), we watched a player immediately hit a home run. Foreshadowing?

When we got to school, he told me he wasn’t going to give me the outline until I went on a date with him. Like any other 1L in my shoes would have, I did, and it turned out to be the most worthwhile studying effort I have ever made.

How he asked – by Victoria: Looking back, Dominik proposed all day long. He picked me up from my yoga class with a bunch of dried lavender (something he brought me on one of our first dates) and a letter he wrote, chronicling our relationship. Then, he took me to the spa and told me he wanted me to have some time by myself to relax. When I got home, he had a bag packed with my favorite dress and heels, and told me we were spending the night at the Royal Sonesta. We got dressed up and went to dinner, and at the end, in a box of chocolates, sat the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen. I was crying and in shock, so I don’t remember saying yes. I must have nodded though, because I’m engaged to the love of my life!
