Beth and Hansel
How We Met: Hansel and I met in pharmacy school. As the president of his class, Hansel spoke at my White Coat Ceremony, which occurred the weekend prior to starting class. My entire family came to see me receive my white coat, but after the ceremony, all they could talk about was Hansel’s speech. Throughout the next few weeks, I saw Hansel around school and developed a crush on him. Finally, one Friday night my friends and I went to a local bar. Hansel and his friends were there and we talked for the first time. I truly started to fall for him, and him for me. We began seeing each other regularly shortly thereafter, and I knew he was the guy for me!
How He Proposed: After we both graduated from pharmacy school, we started to talk about our future and marriage. Hansel and I went to look at rings, and I picked out a wedding set that I loved. One weekend in September, Hansel asked me if I had ever been to Arrington Vineyards, a local vineyard and winery. When I responded that I had not, he spontaneously suggested that we go for a wine tasting and tour.
In the back of my mind, I knew this would be the moment he would ask me to marry him.
He proposed on a scenic hilltop at the winery, and I was ecstatic to say yes! However, the true surprise was yet to come…Hansel told me we had dinner reservations at 6pm, but wouldn’t tell me where we were going. Shortly before the reserved time, we got in the car and ended up at Buca di Beppo. He walked straight to the hostess stand and they sat us immediately. We walked through the kitchen, around the corner, and as we entered the “Pope Room” I looked up and saw my entire extended family there! They all live out of town, and Hansel had coordinated their trips here! We had a wonderful meal, and it was so special to spend that time with my new fiance and my family.
