Austin and McKenna's Beautiful Colorado Proposal
How we met: Austin and I met in our freshman year in college. I had the biggest crush on the guy who lived across the hall from his dorm, he and several of the guys in the hall all longboarded and played video games together. One day I was sitting in the dorm across from his, doing some charcoal sketches. I had to draw several different body types. Austin had walked in the door, just having woken up he was in baggy sweat pants and had tousled hair. I introduced myself and asked if I could draw him. I don’t know who was more shocked; him for being asked the question, or me for him actually saying yes! After that day we began bumping into each other through mutual friends, and our friendship took off… the rest is history.
How he asked: Austin and I had been planning a week long trip to Colorado. We both had an intensely busy couple of months between classes and work, so we made a deal that we would splurge a little. One night of our trip would be spent in a nicer-than-usual place with a nicer-than-usual dinner date. Austin, always loving a surprise, kept each day and our plans for the entire trip a secret. When we arrived at Della Terra, I was beyond surprised. It was at the foot of the Rocky Mountains; a completely breathtaking location. Austin had told me we would be going out for dinner so we both got ready. I was beginning to worry because he was acting so strange. I couldn’t tell if he was upset at something, or getting ill, or was preparing to tell me bad news. After getting ready he told me that we were still early for our “reservations” so we decided to walk the chateau grounds. We walked the small winding trail, and Austin would point out different flowers or birds we would see. We walked over a little bridge and Austin looked over and pointed in the distance and said “Do you see that butterfly?”. I looked, but couldn’t see anything. When I turned back to him he was on one knee, and soon after I was in tears of happiness.
