Baileigh and Ryan
How We Met
It all started at my best friends birthday dinner with drinks and dancing, Ryan’s best friend is married to my best friend and they thought they would play matchmakers. Both my fiancé and I had recently gotten out of serious relationships and the last thing we were looking for was another relationship. There was clearly a spark as that night progressed, and (with the help of a drink or two) we kissed out on the dance floor listening to Trap Queen by Fetty Wap (haha). I knew I was in trouble right then and there. For the next few months Ryan made a valiant effort to get my attention as I tried to stay guarded. As time progressed I found it harder and harder to fight it. What started as casually “hanging out” turned into a serious relationship fast. We bonded over dancing, Step Brothers, sports and just being goofy together. He really truly is my best friend we have such a blast together. We couldn’t fight the chemistry and connection we have for each other. Time flew by as we commuted (Mostly Ryan) driving an hour and half to see each other until eventually we were living in the same city. We moved in together soon after and never looked back….
How He Asked
Both our families and close friends are at my parents house for what I assumed was to watch a college basketball game (Kentucky sports are a big part of our family culture-hence the basketball game in the background of the proposal). Ryan had been so strategic in his plans and I had no idea of his intentions. While we were all standing around talking, Ryan’s mom had asked to get our picture together. That’s when Ryan grabbed my hand in front of all our family/close friends and told me how much he loved me and that he knew from the beginning that I was the girl for him. He then proceeded to tell me that I would always be his Trap Queen (ha) and told me he had a question for me with the help of my family.
I turned to find my niece and nephew walk in with a wooden sign “Will you marry me” as Ryan got down on one knee.
I will never forget this moment as I said yes with so much excitement (after I recovered from the shock)! He then planned an engagement party with all our friends and more family at my parents house. As it turns out Ryan asked my father on new years day if he could marry me to which my dad replied “Hell yeah” and from there he planned the proposal with all of our families involved.
I had truly found my best friend and soul mate in the most unexpected of situations, I’m so happy to spend the rest of my life with Ryan and we cannot wait to see what the future holds!
