Austin and Randall

Austin and Randall's Engagement in Toas, NM

How We Met

We met one spring break in college. My best friend and I had organized a trip for everyone that didn’t go skiing or on a cruise. Randall was a part of that group. I had never met him before, nor was I really interested in dating anyone. I was really focusing on ME which is why I had lost my phone weeks prior and didn’t care to get a new one back (I promise it becomes important). The trip turned out to be a blast! We started at my friends’ beach house, then ended at my grandparents (all 20 of us) for Saint Patrick’s Day in Savannah, GA.

Engagement Proposal Ideas in Toas, NM

My grandparents loved having all of us here, especially RANDALL. My grandmother had to pick him out as her favorite and made sure to tell me in front of EVERYONE. How embarrassing!!! But I love her for it now. When we got back to school, Randall had found my phone, returned it to me, and asked me out on a date hehe! We went out a couple nights later and talked all night about our crazy ideas and adventures. From then on we were inseparable.

How He Asked

My favorite band, Galactic, was playing in Taos, my favorite place, for the first time. So, we drove up to see them and camped under the stars after the concert. The next morning we woke up knowing we wanted to hike Wheeler Peak – 13,000 ft peak. We had noticed there was a storm coming in so we grabbed our stuff and quickly headed up the mountain. As we approached the top a couple hours later, the wind was howling and the storm was coming in so we picked a spot behind the peak to grab a bit to eat and rest. As we came to this perfect little spot blocked by the wind Randall began to tell me how much he loved me…

I don’t really remember the rest but he got down on one knee, I cried hysterically, and of course said YES! The sky cleared and a RAINBOW appeared! I wish I was lying here … This day was by far the best day of my life. I know people say this all the time but I really can’t believe I get to marry my best friend.
