Audrey and Brayton

How We Met

It all started at a college football tailgate almost 7 years ago when our sorority and fraternity were paired together for football season. I was head over heels for Brayton and I could tell he was the same for me. From that day forward, we were inseparable. Like any couple can say, they’ve been through a lot together, but we REALLY have been through a lot together.

How He Asked

6 years later and we finally got to go on our dream trip: to Peru to hike the Inca Trail. We both had just started new jobs and like any college graduate had loans swarming us, but we had saved for this trip. We had talked about getting engaged but I knew it would not be happening any time soon because of where we were in life, but getting engaged soon did not matter to me, we had already been together 6 years, why not wait another year or two. We arrive in Peru, and the entire trip Brayton carried around his daypack. I would be in and out of it putting things in it and taking things out, and not once did he get worried I might find something so I knew there was not a ring in there.

After hiking 4 days from sun up to sun down on the Inca trail, we arrived at Machu Picchu around 7:30 am. I was so excited to capture the magical moment in a photo with him and was so focused on getting the perfect photo, I did not even notice Brayton was on one knee. When I turned to him I was in complete shock and was SO surprised and have never felt so much love and excitement in my life.

I have no idea how he hid that ring from me, but I am so happy he did because that was the most amazing and magical moment I have ever experienced.
