Ashli and Tyler
How We Met
The summer of 2010, Ashli moved to Tyler’s small town. She was a freshman, he was a sophomore. They first met at a band day before school started. One that day, Tyler took an interest in Ashli and prayed for the right time with her. That time came after 6 months of patience from Tyler. She always thought that he was the player-type, which was not her type. But she decided to give him a chance and, well, the rest is history!
How He Asked
I moved to small town Leroy my freshman year of high school, where I met my now fiancé. His side of the story is that he knew from the first day he saw me that he was going to marry me. I say that’s far-fetched but he insists. Shortly after I moved to Leroy, we started dating. I didn’t expect it to last but a few weeks, and here we are almost 7 years later, engaged! He knows me better than I know myself. He knows that I love to read and I love the little things. We were up in Auburn for the Auburn Georgia game and to see friends. We were “going out to eat for my friends birthday” which was the following day. It was an overcast Sunday. We left the church and headed out to eat. My friends really wanted to show me the beautiful fountain in Opelika and so we stopped there before eating.
At the fountain, Tyler reminds me that it is our 6 year and 11 month anniversary (he remembers better than I do). He hands me a book titled “The Story of Our Life” and in the author’s box is his name. We sit on the bench while I read the beautiful story that has unfolded over the past 6 years and 11 months. He has written our story to the little details that made me laugh and cry the whole time I’m reading this story.
At the next to the last page, he grabs my hand and leads me to the fountain. He tells me to turn the page and on the very last page are the words “Will you marry me?”. When I look up he is down on one knee with a gorgeous ring in a box. He asks me that four words that I’ve been waiting to hear for so long. Of course, I say yes and almost tackle him. And now we are getting married May 12, 2018, in the small town that brought us together. And I can’t wait to say I do to my best friend and high school sweetheart.
