Ashley and Victor
How We Met
Vic and I met when I was 18 and worked as a hostess at The Moose Preserve Bar & Grill which was a hang out for him and his friends. He and I knew each other but I ended up dating one of his friends briefly.
Fast forward a couple years….a girlfriend and I were out at our favorite bar in Royal Oak when I ran into Vic. We were inseparable the entire evening and everyday since then. It has been over 6 years since we got together and when we tie the knot it will be a few weeks away from our 7 year anniversary. So much has happened since then. We got a cat together. We traveled to Vegas and experienced many music festivals together. We cannot wait to start our lives together!
How He Asked
This was our second year going up north camping with Vic’s family to the Leelanau Peninsula where we usually go boating, play cards, golf and visit the local winery’s. Last year I fell in love with L. Mawby Vineyard because I loved their all sparking wine and the vibe and location. I was highly anticipating this trip just to get some fresh air and sparkling wine. That morning it was raining and I was secretly kind of happy about it because I just bought some new rain boots that I was dying to wear. I threw on my favorite Lululemon leggings, a Fender tee shirt and my new duck boots. After a delicious breakfast and 2 winery’s later we pulled into L.Mawby. I rushed in and lead the group of us which consisted of Vic’s mom, dad, his brother Jimmy, Vic’s best friend Mike and myself. We enjoyed a wine tasting, then got our sample glasses and went to sit down under a tent in vineyard field. Vic’s brother and Mike said they had to use the bathroom and they took off. Vic, myself , his mom and dad all sat down and chatted a bit. A few moments and a few sips in Victor got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I was stunned, shocked and speechless.
He told me to turn around and behind me were all the people from the winery watching us as well and my mom and step-dad. Everyone cheered and toasted to us. It was truly magical. After the proposal I was surprised with more close family and friends that had been hiding out all weekend for this. We all had a barbecue and party that evening. I will never forget it!!
