Ashley and Sam

How we met

Spring 2014 is when it all started. A few months before that, my sister had met this wonderful southern man through mutual acquaintances and eventually she got to know him. She found out that he worked in the same company as me. Couples months go by and surprisingly Sam was filling in a position at my work location. When I first laid my eyes on him there was a fire in my eyes and I lit up like a light bulb. To know how he felt was a mystery. Working with each other so often created chemistry between us. As time went by I knew in order for this to become something special I would need to leave my company. I thought to myself “Is he the right person, and how would I know unless I left to prevent conflict of interest?” So I finally made my decision and left my job to pursue another career.

When I finally left the company, Sam had patiently waited months to ask me out. We had jokingly told each other “your going to fall in love with me”, as the other disagreed. After our first date I was so ecstatic and I knew he was nervous and excited too. At that moment we knew we had made the right decision to begin something special.

how he asked

As the summer went by we shared unforgettable memories that I will never forget. From hiking to visiting friends and family in New Orleans and Shreveport, as our love grew we had expressed our love to one another. Eventually Sam had asked my Dad for my hand in marriage. That week I had taken the hike of my life on September 24, 2016. He had taken me to the top of El Morro Canyon Mountain overlooking the ocean. He had nervously expressed his love to me.

He got on one knee and asked me to marry him. He expressed his desire to spend the rest of his life with me. I was so nervous I couldn’t believe that this was happening to me. The best three-letter word that came out of my month was “YES”! We have never been happier knowing we were going to spend the rest of our lives together.
