Ashley and Nick
How We Met
Nick and I have a very unique love story that started back when we were in elementary school. Little did I know, when I was in kindergarten and Nick was in second grade, he had a crush on me. My bangs and Dalmatian T-shirts must have really caught his eye. We went through the same High school, he was in band and I was into sports. We knew of each other but never dated. It wasn’t until after I got out of college in 2014 and moved to Colorado that Nick started Facebook messaging me about the Spartan Race he knew i was supposed to come home to PA for. The conversations grew and grew. After a month of talking with this man I knew I felt something. I flew home for Thanksgiving to surprise him and my family. After getting to hangout with Nick in person I knew he was the one. In December of 2014 I decided to take a chance on love and i packed up my things and moved home for a boy. It was the best decision I ever made.
How He Asked
I am a wedding and portrait photographer and so is one of my very good friends, Caitlin Taylor. We do a lot of photography together and learn and help each other out. Caitlin texted me in September and asked if I could help her location scout at Kings Gap for a photoshoot on Friday October the 13th. She said she had never been there before and wanted to check it out before she takes clients there. I said of course I would help and I put it on my calendar to save the date. Friday the 13th rolls around it’s a cool, and slightly rainy fall evening. Caitlin drives us up to Kings Gap and we start walking around to the look out.
I walk over and see flowers sitting there and think nothing of it. I thought it was so weird that someone had flowers just sitting out in the rain. I start taking photos and Caitlin noticed there was a card in the flowers and said she wanted to read it. I thought it was weird that she was going to read someone else’s card. She hands me the card and it says, “One for the past, one for the present and one for the future.”
My stomach sunk as that is something that Nick had said to me before. On Valentine’s Day he gave me three roses that signified one for the past one for the present and one for the future. I was shocked! I put the card down and when I turned my head, Nick was walking towards me.
Then I see my sister following behind him with her phone recording everything. I was in complete shock because I didn’t even see this coming. I don’t even remember what he said to me but all I know is that I said yes! If that wasn’t perfect enough, once we got home to my parents house, all of my friends and family were there to throw us a party. It was absolutely perfect.
