Ashley and Greg
How We Met
Greg and I met, to both of our surprises, through an online dating app. Neither of us expected anything to come out of a first night out with each other and our friends in Philadelphia, but one night out turned into talking every single day since then. I knew from the moment I met Greg, he would be the one I would marry. The way he makes me laugh, smile, and everything in between, we were meant to be together.
How He Asked
Every Christmas, my family spends time in Naples, Florida altogether. We always go to Captiva Island on Christmas Day and we always take family pictures at sunset. It’s been a tradition for the last 7 or 8 years, therefore the perfect way to put a surprise into place and make sure I had no clue! The entire drive from where our house is in Naples to Captiva Island, we sat in traffic, which is pretty typical and I didn’t think anything of it! Apparently, Greg had to go to the bathroom and was nervous we wouldn’t make sunset due to the traffic. When we got to the beach, My brother and his girlfriend were already there.
He said he found a spot for us to all take pictures because it was a beautiful night and the beach was more crowded than normal! After we walked a little way down, my brother’s girlfriend offered to take my phone to take pictures of Greg and I before we took theirs, then some of the whole family. The entire minute and a half as Greg got down on one knee, still remains a blue. As cliche as it sounds, I did not expect it or think for one second it was coming. The night was a dream come true and I couldn’t be happier to be starting this next step in our lives together.
A funny side story about the engagement-Greg asked my dad for permission two months prior in October and also texted my brother who lives in a different state than us. 2 weeks after asking my dad, he emailed my mom a couple pictures of rings to get her opinion on what I might like, the best part was, my dad never told my mom he had talked to my fiancé Greg and he asked me for permission. My mom ended up finding out Greg was going to propose to me via email! Of course, they all knew the whole time we were in Florida, and the whole family saw the ring in our own home on Thanksgiving, but I had no clue!
