Ashley and Dustin

How We Met

Dustin and I met at church years ago, we didn’t really go out of our way to talk to one another since we both were dating other people. When both of those relationships ended a mutual friend of ours suggested that we go on a date. She thought that we would be perfect for each other and boy was she right. We went on our first date on February 1, 2014, we went to Panera Bread which had just opened in Michigan City and then we went to see a movie afterwards – The Awkward Moment. After the movie we went back to Panera where my car was parked and talked for hours. I don’t think I had stayed up that late in years, it was such a great night that time slipped away from us. Now I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

How He Asked

Dustin proposed to me on October 3rd of 2015. It was a Saturday night and Dustin has just got done working a side job with my uncle, he suggested that he wanted to go out to dinner so we debated for a little while and since we couldn’t decide right away we went to Dunkin Donuts to get hot chocolate. On our way there we decided that we were going to go to Galvestion’s Steakhouse (yum) since we hadn’t been there since Valentine’s Day. On our way to the steakhouse Dustin told me that he forgot something at home and needed to go back (I didn’t question this because he forgets things all the time) we pull in our back driveway and he tells me that he will be right back, I’m waiting and waiting – it seems like forever. He gets back in the truck and I ask him why he took so long and he stated that Boston (our puppy) had peed and he had to clean it up (another thing I didn’t think twice about). So finally we go around the block to get on the street we needed to be on to get to the steakhouse and he pulls to the front of the house and tells me that I need to get out (this time I was like “are you serious?”) I get out and on the front porch are two glowing pumpkins that have “will you marry me?” craved in them, that’s when Dustin got on one knee and proposed “will you be my shotgun rider?”. It really truly was a night to remember. The reason he craved pumpkins is because I always call him pumpkin no matter what time of year it is. It truly was a night to remember and the perfect way to ask. Of course I said YES! Our wedding date is now set for November 5th and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!
