How We Met

Breck and I met in middle school 9 years ago. We quickly became friends. He was a football player. I was a dancer. I never imagined he would agree to it being a football player and a ‘manly man’, but I got him to take dancing lessons along with me and we went to both of our proms together. We became high school sweethearts.

We’ve been together for five years and graduate with our bachelors degrees in the upcoming spring and summer of 2016; myself becoming a social worker, him becoming a police officer. We are proud of our story, and will always cherish our friendship above all!

How He Asked

About a month ago, he started saying how bad he felt that he hadn’t taken me on a romantic date in a while. He said to keep the Wednesday before thanksgiving open so we could go out. On November 25, 2015, he came to pick me up in a nice dress shirt and pants. Luckily I felt like dressing up, too. He then told me to pick where we were going to lunch. Afterward, he took me to the middle school where we met and handed me a letter. Inside he talked about how lucky he was to have met me so long ago, and where we are today. At the end of the letter, there was a hint to the next place he indented to take me; which would be the movie theatre where we went on our first date. There would be six more letters leading me around the town we grew up in and met, taking me to all of the significant spots during our time together. At sunset, we ended up at our college, Ball State University, and he led me to a special statue on campus. When we stopped, he handed me the letter labeled ‘last’. He told me this is where our new story begins, and got down on one knee and FINALLY asked me to marry him. As I said yes, my parents and his popped out from the bushes, and a professional photographer! It was the best day of my life.
