Arielle and Johnny
How We Met
Johnny and I met at Curry College in August 2009. I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. My friends who lived next door in our dorm told me that there was a very handsome boy moving into the same dorm we were in. They knew Johnny because they were from the same hometown. They told me that we would be so cute together and that they thought we should date. I couldn’t wait to meet Johnny and to see what my friends were really talking about. Little did any of us know, he was the ONE for me! I will never forget the first time I saw Johnny, he had the most beautiful blue eyes and cutest smile, when they say love at first sight, this truly was love at first sight! We started dating not too long after! and here we are 8 years later and engaged!
How He Asked
I and Johnny were on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard. My family has a timeshare in Edgartown, and this is where we vacation every summer in July. It is truly our happy place. The most amazing day of our lives started at the beach. It was the most beautiful day! I and Johnny and my family spent the entire day relaxing on the beach, having drinks, swimming, playing games and enjoying the first beach day of our vacation. Johnny mentioned to me at the beach we were going to go down to the Edgartown Lighthouse for sunset, some people might think this would give away the surprise proposal, but we always go down to the lighthouse with a bottle of wine for sunset, so I didn’t think anything of it! I said, “perfect sounds good!”. The lighthouse is a very special place to us for many reasons. My father passed away 4 years ago and my older brother passed away last year, at the base of the lighthouse their names are engraved there. This special spot means so much to me and Johnny and my family.
After the day at the beach, we all got ready for dinner and our sunset at the lighthouse. After we finished up dinner we all walked down to the lighthouse. As we reached the lighthouse and walked up to the stones, I noticed they were surrounded in shells and a rose, I thought to myself ” wow who did that?” since none of us have been up there yet. It was so beautiful that and I started to tear up. As I was standing on the lighthouse, Johnny poured us a glass of wine, we were standing up there admiring the most beautiful sunset. I love my pictures, so I asked my brother’s girlfriend to take a photo of us. This was the moment Johnny was waiting for! AND ME!
As we stood on the lighthouse, Johnny started to tell me how much he loved me, how happy he was, and how he can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with me, he then said: ” Arielle look up”. As I looked up into the sky, I saw a plane with a banner that said “I Love You, Arielle Crocker. Will You Marry Me?”. As I looked back at Johnny he was on his knee with the biggest smile on his face, expressing his love for me. He then said ” Arielle Louise Crocker, Will You Marry Me?” the most amazing moment of my life was happening, He then opened the box to the most beautiful ring I have ever seen, my dream ring! & I was jumping up and down screaming YES YES YES!!! to the love of my life! It was truly the proposal of my dreams!!!
As soon as I said yes, our family and friends came running over to us! My mom and brother with tears of happiness in their eyes, as well as his dad hiding in a tent taking photos of us! and my best friend and cousin surprising me. I couldn’t have been happier to of had our family and friends apart of the best day of our lives! The start to the best family vacation ever and day ever! As the sun was setting, we popped champagne and celebrated on the lighthouse. The happiness and love that surrounded us was the best thing we could ask for. We celebrated the night away with our friends and family dancing at one of our favorite spots! I cannot thank my fiancé enough for planning the most amazing proposal and ring. My dreams came true on July 15th, and I am truly the luckiest girl in the world to have the most amazing man by my side forever !! I am SOO happy to say I am engaged to the love of my life! :)
