Anthony and Stephanie

Stephanie's Proposal in Groom's Home

How We Met

Anthony and I went to the same high school, and were both a part of the graduating class of 2009. We only had one class together the entire four years, which was freshman year math honors. We knew of each other, but hadn’t connected until college. We officially “met” at my best friend’s 21st birthday celebration at Hudson Terrace in NYC. I remember that night vividly, especially the first moment I saw Anthony. Like from the scene of a movie, I remember Anthony walking into Hudson (as if in slow motion), and knew instantly I had to be with him. Thankfully, he made the first move by asking me why we didn’t talk much in high school. We did a lot of talking that night to make up for it!

Where to Propose in Groom's Home

The next day, I was in my backyard laying by the pool when my phone rang. It was a text message from Anthony! He asked me out on our very first date. We went out two days later and the rest is history! We’ve been together ever since, and I could not picture my life with anyone else.

How He Asked

Traditionally, on December 23rd, Anthony and I exchange Christmas gifts. This year we planned to exchange gifts at his house after eating dinner at Andella’s, an Italian restaurant. The food was delicious and it was very romantic. After dinner when we arrived at his house, his mother immediately called me upstairs to talk and catch up. Meanwhile, little did I know, downstairs Anthony was setting up for the biggest moment of my life. After talking with his mom for a little while, I went downstairs into his living room. He instantly played a slideshow for me that he said he “made for Christmas” this year. This was completely normal, as Anthony had always made slideshows of pictures of us in the past.

This slideshow included pictures of us throughout the five years we’ve been together, with captions at the bottom, and our song “This I Promise You” by NSYNC playing in the background. Again, I really had no idea what was about to happen! I was so in awe by the pictures and the loving words he wrote to me. At the end of the slideshow, there was a banner that read “Stephanie, Will You Marry Me? Love always, Anthony.” Before I could even catch my breath and realize what was happening, Anthony was down on one knee in front of me. I cried tears of shock and joy!

Right after I said yes, he walked me through a door with rose pedals on the floor that led to the apartment area of his house. Yet another surprise.. our families were waiting for us! They greeted us with a loud “yay!” and we celebrated the rest of our perfect evening together.

I love you so much Anthony and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you.
