Annielle and Aaron
How We Met: We met on September 14, 2012, at a law school happy hour in Baltimore, MD. We both were in law school but attended different law schools in Maryland. I was in my first year of law school, and he was in his second year. I was sitting at the bar with my friend and I noticed an attractive guy sitting at a table across the room. Later in the evening he came over and introduced himself. There was an instant attraction and since that day we’ve been inseparable.
How He Asked: May 18, 2015, was the day of my law school graduation. My family and friends came to see me walk across the stage and celebrate a monumental accomplishment. After my graduation ceremony, my brother took me to return my cap and gown while the rest of my family went back to our apartment. I assumed we were heading back to our apartment to kill some time before dinner.
We were all just sitting in the living room and talking. He was acting really weird, walking around the apartment and he still had his suit jacket on. I didn’t really think much of it, especially when he asked if I wanted to open my graduation gift. He had been hinting at how much I would love my gift so of course I was excited to open it. He then handed me a large gift bag and inside the bag was a scrapbook. He had chronicled our entire relationship (and mind you he’s not an arts and craft kind of guy!) All the important moments throughout our relationship were there. The time and effort that he put into the scrapbook impressed me and made it all that more special.
As I continued to flip through the book, there was a note on the second to last page that said stop. So I looked up, and he proceeded to tell me how much he loves me and couldn’t imagine his life without me. He then told me to flip the page. As I did there was a picture he drew of him kneeling with a ring, and I looked up, he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring asked if I’ll marry him. I was in shock and flooded with happiness that I didn’t know how to react, I just cried hysterically. I didn’t say yes until after he was literally putting the ring on my finger.
