Anna and Dean
How We Met
Dean and I met in Math class during our Junior year of High School. Little did he know I had the biggest crush on him since Freshman year! Winter 2010 was the best winter! He asked me to be his girlfriend on February 10, 2010. I remember like it was yesterday. We were off from school due to a bad snow storm. We decided to go see the movie “Dear John.” After the movie, we went to a park nearby. It was freezing but of course I did not mind because I was with Dean. We were sitting in the park and I was about to head home when I realized Dean was trying to stall me from leaving. I was sitting on his lap when he finally asked me. That entire subway ride home, I could not stop smiling. I was playing the moment back in my head over and over again so much that I missed my stop! After that day, we were inseparable. We went to college together, graduated in 2015 and finally moved in together in 2016. We have so many amazing memories but I have a feeling the best has yet to come!
How He Asked
Dean knew the winter season was very special to our relationship because it was when we first started dating back in 2010. We moved into an apartment together in September 2016. It was about two weeks after we put up our Christmas tree that Dean realized our first home together is so special and would be the perfect place to pop the question! Friday December 16, 2018 was a regular morning, or so I thought. Dean dressed up in his suit and left for work around 8 as he usually does. I got ready and left for work shortly after. Little did I know was that Dean didn’t go to work that day! When he knew the coast was clear, his day long project commenced. He picked up 300 white roses that he pre-ordered from a local bodega and created the most beautiful sign out of recycled card board, tape and floral foam blocks that said “MARRY ME.”
When I got home that Friday afternoon, I walked into the living room to find this beautiful display of roses and candles, and Dean standing behind it. I was so shocked I didn’t even know what to say! Dean came up to me, gave me a kiss hello and took off my jacket. You could tell he was really nervous which made me melt. He finally took the ring out and showed it to me! That’s when I got really nervous and realized this was really happening!
The day I have been dreaming about for years was finally here. I knew I wanted to marry Dean, my high school sweetheart and first love, for many years but for him to propose in our new home together made it so much more special. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said YES!
The rest of the weekend was spent dancing around our apartment blasting love songs and celebrating with family and friends!
