Angela and Sam
How We Met
Sam and I met in the summer of 2010 at Baylor University’s Line Camp. Line camp is a welcome camp for freshman as an introduction to learn more about Baylor’s campus and traditions. At line camp, we met on the bus during the day trip to Independence, TX (Baylor’s original founding city) in a “speed-friending” activity. We knew from then on that something was there between us. However, the timing for us did not work out until sophomore year so we began dating in 2011 and became college sweethearts. Sam was a Sigma Phi Epsilon at Baylor University and I was a Kappa Kappa Gamma. We brought each other to all of our take-a-dates, semi-formals, formals, and other events. I even became a Goldenheart for his fraternity. We both continued onto graduate school in different cities – Houston and Lubbock, TX. I received a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Baylor College of Medicine and am a practicing PA-C and Sam recently graduated from Texas Tech School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas. We have been together for six years and are so excited to be spending the rest of our lives with one another.
How He Asked
Sam proposed on November 25th of 2017 at 4.0 Cellars in Fredericksburg, TX. He had planned a surprise, romantic weekend getaway for us to Fredericksburg but would not tell me where we were going. When we were about an hour out from town, I figured out that Fredericksburg was the place we would be spending the weekend. We arrived to a very sweet cottage off of Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg with a cozy fireplace and private balcony. He told me that he had a surprise activity planned for us Saturday afternoon and finally Saturday morning he revealed what it was. When we arrived at 4.0 Cellars that afternoon, I had no idea he was about to propose. First, we participated in a wine tasting then both got glasses of wine to enjoy outdoors. When we walked outside, there was the cutest set of rocking chairs under a gorgeous tree.
We sat down to have our glasses of wine and a couple of minutes later a woman walked up and wanted to “take pictures of us for the winery”. We stood up, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him under the beautiful “Wedding Tree”. Little did I know he had invited both of our families and they were hiding right behind us!
After he proposed, our families revealed themselves and the band that was playing at the winery starting playing a song for us and everyone at the winery began cheering. I couldn’t believe that our families had made the four to four and half hour drives to celebrate with us! Not to mention the ring was better than I could have ever imagined. We were able to celebrate the rest of the weekend with our favorite people and I couldn’t have been more happy to spend it with the love of my life!
