Angela and Joseph

How We Met

Our story started in the Fall of 2013 at William Paterson University in New Jersey. We were placed in a group together for our Public Relations Workshop final project and wound up spending a great deal of time together in our final weeks of class. On the last day before Winter break, Joe walked me to my car and we discovered that we were both going to be in Boston for New Year’s Eve. This gave us the perfect excuse to keep in touch now that class was ending and we wound up talking every day from that point on. After dating for several months, Joe finally asked me to be his girlfriend on St. Patrick’s Day and the rest is history. Over the past five and a half years before we became engaged we graduated college, started our careers, traveled, adopted our cat Gronk and most importantly made a million memories together.

How He Asked

I went to sleep on Tuesday, July 18, 2018, setting my alarm clock for a bit earlier as I knew I had to be at work right at 9 am on Wednesday to take a conference call. I figured the next couple of days at work would be a little busy since my boss was going to be out of the office and he already mentioned I may have some things coming my way.

I didn’t have a chance for my alarm to go off the next morning because I was woken up at 5:30 am by Joe going through his dresser. I rolled over and asked him if everything was okay and he responded that he needed me to get up, find my passport and pack any medications that I may need. I was completely panic-stricken but Joe took my phone before I had a chance to call my boss or any friends and family to see what is happening. I kept telling him I needed to pack but he already had a suitcase hiding in his car and he wouldn’t share where we were heading.

After a couple of hours and thousand questions for Joe, I was on a plane to Colorado for a surprise vacation together! Joe had already worked it out with my job so I could have off for the week. I have never been so surprised in my life!

After spending two days exploring Denver and Boulder, Joe let me know that we would be going for a nice dinner with his friend Amanda who we were staying with. After driving for what seemed for forever, she let us know that she missed the entrance to the restaurant but while we were here there is a beautiful view called Lost Gulch Overlook.

Amanda led the way and I couldn’t contain my laughter as I was attempting to hike up a rocky hill in high heels. When we reached the top, Joe got down on one knee and popped the question after five and a half years! Little did I know he had hired a photographer to capture our special moment, in the most beautiful place I have ever been. The proposal was natural, fun and all I could focus on was how happy I was. I could not have created a more perfect proposal and am so excited to start this next chapter of our lives!
