Angela and Ernest

Marriage Proposal Ideas in The Rink At Rockefeller Center

How We Met

Ernest and I met in high school. Although we were not high school sweethearts, we were really good friends. We had the same classes, same teachers, same lunch breaks, and same group of friends. If you asked us back then (10 years ago) if we would ever date, both of us would say “hell no”. Not that I thought anything was wrong with him… but we just never saw each other that way and kept it at the “friend zone”. We would purposely sit together during class and whenever there was a test, Ernest would always try to cheat off my paper. We would go out for lunch together, and on Tuesdays we would go to KFC for Toonie Tuesdays! We would just enjoy each other’s company and talked about stupid/useless/immature things teenagers would talk about. This is a picture of us on my 18th birthday.

How He Asked

We did not go to the same grad school however we still remained friends. 5 years ago we went on a trip to New York with a couple of our other friends. A lot of crazy things happened that trip, but long story short, that trip made us realize that we would actually make an amazing couple. Soon after that trip, Ernest asked me to be his girlfriend. This picture was taken Summer of 2012 at the Rockefeller Center.

Since that trip, New York became our favorite city. We went during the summertime but I told Ernest I would love to see New York during the Christmas season. December 2016 he took me. He booked our flight & hotel and planned our whole itinerary for this trip. On our last day he planned for us to go skating at the Rockefeller skating rink. After an hour and a half of skating, people started to leave the skating rink. Our song (Spend My Life With You – by Eric Benét ft. Tamia) started playing and he dragged me to the center of the rink once everyone cleared off the rink. At that point everyone’s eyes were on us. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And of course… I said YES!

I was oblivious and didn’t know that there were 2 photographers and 1 videographer following us around the Rockefeller Center area that day.

New York will always have a special place in our hearts.
