Andrea and Shane
How We Met
Shane and I met online, an app connected us through mutual friends on Facebook. We began discussing our love of beer and the fact that Shane went to Western Michigan University in my hometown of Kalamazoo, MI. We instantly clicked and quickly decided to go on a date a couple days later. We met at a local grocery store to pick out beer for the evening. Smuttynose Finest Kind IPA was our choice, and the evening and the beer was perfection.
How He Asked
Little did I know that a date night at our favorite neighborhood brewery would change my life forever. Shane and I walked hand in hand to DryHop for a couple beers and some dinner on a Wednesday evening. We had discussed a beer earlier in the week that sounded amazing, and I was super excited to try it. The hostess brought us to a table by the window and set our beer menus in front of us. A quick glance and I found the beer we had been discussing. Shane looked up at me and quickly said “do you see anything else that looks good?” Immediately I saw my name and my soon to be last name on the bottom of the menu in front of me. I heard Shane’s chair pull away from the table and he was suddenly down on one knee with a red ring box in his hand. The tears came immediately and to this day I can’t remember a single word he said, but I know I screamed yes. A few moments later I looked down and saw the full description of my “beer” on the menu. As if I didn’t love this man enough, he described my personality perfectly, even the beer percentage was meaningful (the day we started dating.) The entire evening I was floating. I couldn’t stop staring at my hand, and at my future husband!
