Amin and Nahal

How We Met

I met Amin in September at a friends birthday party in Los Angeles. Our friends introduced us at the party and we immediately started chatting. We sat down together and had a lovely conversation all night…we just clicked. After the night ended, we stayed in touch with lots of texts and phone calls. Since Amin lives in Chicago and I in California, there was a distance problem from the get go. He went back to Chicago but promised me he would be back to see me again very soon. He was back within 2 weeks (kept his word…so impressed) and I was thrilled we could spend more time getting to know one another.

The courtship took off after this, and we would fly back and forth to see each other. During this time I was falling for him in a big way. I could see we were meant for each other and loved spending time with him. He was the sweetest man I had ever met. We even met up in Vegas for a romantic weekend full of Vegas fun. As I spent more and more time with him, I realized I had fallen in love with him the moment I laid eyes on him. It became evident he really was perfect for me, and he felt the same way, as far as I could tell!

How He Asked

In January he came out to LA to visit. I was working the day he arrived, so I was unaware of his activities for the day. Surprisingly, he was secretly meeting with my parents, pledging his love for me and asking their permission to marry me. He asked them to keep it a secret from me as he had a master plan in proposing to me. They might have been equally excited as him!

In January, I was told that we were going to be attending a red carpet event in LA on Valentine’s day. He told me I had to find a pretty dress, get my makeup and nails done etc as it was a special event. “Very fancy”, he said. He even engaged my sister into helping me find the perfect dress for the “occasion”. Since she was in on it, she guided me to the perfect pale pink dress which was not only perfect for a red carpet event but also my proposal. He had also asked me questions about what my favorite diamond was…but was very sneaky about it. He was getting prepared without me knowing a thing!

Pelican Hill is my most favorite resort in California, so when the day arrived, he of course told me he had a room booked and to meet him there. He told me the front desk would guide me to his room. When I arrived they were waiting for me (I didn’t have a clue what was about to take place) and walked me down to the rotunda. The rotunda is this spectacular structure with grand ocean views perched on a hilltop at a far corner of the resort. It might be the most magnificent spot in the world! I was a bit confused as I was led there, but once I saw the red rose petals on the ground and Amin waiting for me I knew something was up. However, I was not anticipating a proposal from him at all. I was thinking he had come up with a beautiful way of celebrating Valentines Day with me. As I walked up to him he greeted me with a big hug and all smiles. I was surprised but still had no clue he was going to ask me to marry him. When he fell to one knee I couldn’t believe it…he was asking me to marry him! He presented me with a gorgeous ring, all made to my specifications. It was perfect and I said YES!

Just as I said yes, and we hugged…at my favorite resort amidst beautiful flowers and my one true love, our family and friends came down to greet us. I was shocked! All of our very close friends and family from both sides were there to spend the afternoon in celebration. We sipped champagne, enjoyed a tasty light buffet complete with shrimp cocktails and chocolate dipped strawberries. Everything was perfect. A beautiful celebration I will never forget, and one where I was completely surprised. It was a day I will never forget. Only my wedding day might be able to top it. Thank you to Pelican Hill Resort for hosting such a beautiful event just for me. I will never forget it, and we might just live happily ever after as I have most definitely found my prince.

Special Thanks
