Alyssa and Kenneth
How We Met
It was a Saturday night and a perfect night for a GNO with my girlfriend. Not having been out in forever, my friend talked me into it and we headed out for some happy hour drinks at a trendy local bar. As we walked into the bar we barely had a chance to sit down before a young man came up to us and asked us to join his group he was with for his friends birthday. He offered to buy us drinks and introduce us to his friends. Little did I know, Ken and his buddies were a bit shy and that was why they sent the wingman to grab us. Ken immediately caught my eye with his cute, brown eyes and auburn hair. We hit it off immediately and had an amazing night together getting to know each better over wine and conversation while I brought him to some of my favorite Spokane spots.
How He Asked
It was a normal Friday, I worked from home and my family had plans to do dinner and drinks after work. My mom gave me the idea of going to Clinkerdaggers in Spokane to enjoy the beautiful sunshine on their patio. As I arrived to meet Ken and what I thought, my whole family, I had no idea what was about to happen. Ken texted me what table he was at. As I walked up, a young woman was taking photos, which I thought was odd, but did not think too much about it as it seemed she was taking photos of the waterfall near the restaurant.
As I got closer to our table, I saw a beautiful table all decorated, but Ken was nowhere in sight. There were a framed picture of us, a bouquet of pink roses, and a bottle of wine we shared on our first date. Soon, the woman taking pictures turned to me and started snapping pictures of me. Standing in shock at what I finally realized was happening, I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to Ken. He got down on one knee and ask me to be his wife. We then had a romantic dinner and photo shoot to celebrate the occasion!
But… the story does not end there. After dinner, Ken put me in a car and we started driving to a surprise destination. After being in the car for about an hour, I knew where we were going, a beautiful area called Priest Lake located in Idaho. This place is special to us as it is where Ken told me he loved me for the first time. As we drove, I thought we were going to celebrate just the two of us and have a romantic weekend at a cabin. As we arrived, I saw his whole family who came from the east coast waiting for us at the lodge. As I got out of the car, I was informed that they planned an engagement party together and my family was also joining!
During the party, Ken stole me away once again to inform me about one last tiny detail… that he has secretly been planning a wedding for us and we are getting married that following Sunday. With tears streaming down my face, I had found out that everyone in our family had a role in planning our intimate ceremony and it would take place at the lodge overlooking the lake. My sister got my flowers, my mom got a dress and cake, and his family did decorations. Marrying Ken two days after getting engaged was the best thing ever that has happened to me. Our wedding day was perfect and filled with love, blessings, and surprises. With everything that happened, I’d say I’m the luckiest girl alive.
