Alyson and Kevin
How We Met
It all started 3 years ago. We met each other in September of 2014 when we were both in a wedding together. It was love at first sight and we have been inseparable ever since. One thing that many people don’t know is that we are almost 12 years apart. Age does not mean a thing when you are in love. I knew from the second we started dating that he was going to be my husband – whether people approved of it or not. It was not up to anyone else, it was up to me. To my surprise, our families were very supportive of our relationship, regardless of our age difference.
How He Asked
It wasn’t too long after I started sending him pictures of rings that I liked so he would get an idea when the time came. He would give me hints to throw me off. There would be times where I would think “OMG. It’s gonna happen!”… and it wouldn’t – but then again, you aren’t supposed to know! On 8/25/17 on what seemed to me to be a normal Friday, Kevin and I both went to “work”. Or should I say, I went to work and he drove from NY to Boston to get me a ring? I thought he was at work the whole day. He told me to get ready because we are going to dinner before the school year starts up again, as a little end of the summer date. I was a little skeptical at first, but I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. As we were paying for the bill, Kevin had to run out to the car.
Of course, I was asking a billion questions – like, why can’t I go with you? Why can’t it wait? I don’t wanna sit here alone. As he went out to the car, I started to look around – we were at a nice restaurant on the Hudson River. It was a beautiful night. He came back and tapped on my shoulder. He asked what I was doing. Next thing I knew … he asked me to stand up. Could this be happening??? I stood up and was immediately in shock.
He got down on one knee in front of dozens of people and asked me to be his wife. Out of nowhere, a photographer popped out, (she was hiding /in the bar the whole time snapping pics) and some champagne. Now I’m the future Mrs – and I can’t wait to marry my best friend!
