Allison and Jordan

How We Met

We officially met at a party on my second day of college but I had a crush on him all through high school. We grew up less than a mile from each other but I was too shy to approach him. When he approached me at the party my heart fluttered. The next day he took me on a date to a record store, we stayed until they closed sharing our favorite music with each other. That night I fell in love with him. We drove around downtown Raleigh blasting our favorite toons and it’s one of the best nights of my life thus far.

How He Asked

I’ve always had a fascination with the Milky Way but I’ve never actually been able to see it. Ever since I lost my mom two years ago I like to think that when I see the stars I see her. Jordan found an observatory where light pollution is regulated so you can see more stars than you’d ever imagine. The observatory was nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and it was dark! We arrived and all I could see was stars I couldn’t stop staring at what I imagine heaven to look like, and sure enough, I saw the Milky Way. The interweaving of Stardust and countless constellations was absolute magic. When we were alone Jordan started looking into my eyes (at least I think he was I could barely see him) he held me so close and started talking about the universe. “The universe is so expansive,” he said I nodded as I stared in wonder at our galaxy.

Where to Propose in Bare Dark Sky Observatory Burnsville, NC

It took me a minute to realize he was proposing! I’ll never forget that feeling when he told me that out of everything I’m his center and the love of his life. He got down on one knee and I said of course. It was so surreal because I could feel my mom there with us. It wasn’t until the next morning after camping in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains that I realized what had just happened.
