Allie and Jeff
How We Met
We met on the app Coffee Meets Bagel. This app pulls matches based on mutual friends. My username was an abbreviation of my first and last name, so Jeff’s first question was basically along the lines of “what’s Als short for?” I responded and we met up for sushi two weeks later, wandered around town and grabbed a beer and watched basketball, and the rest was history.
How He Asked
Jeff had kept every ticket stub from flyers games, concerts, and movies, as well as wedding guest place cards, photo booth pictures, and mini golf score cards knowing he would want to incorporate them into the proposal. He enlisted help from a family friend to rehab this beautiful wood box to paint it, write my name on the top, paste all of our memories in the box; and write the magical question on the inside of the lid. The proposal came together on our third annual trip to OCNJ. Jeff had his brother grab the box and bury it in the sand while we were on a walk. He then enlisted his niece and nephew to go in a treasure hunt. Using an app, he had his phone shout “treasure, treasure!” When pointed to the magic spot in the sand. His nephew started digging and when he hit something, I caught on. I helped undig the rest of the box and saw my name on the top. When I opened it, I saw “Will you marry me?” On the inside of the box with all of our memories and a bottle of champagne. When I turned around, Jeff was on one knee asking me to spend forever with him.
