Alexandra and Samuel
How We Met
Samuel and Alexandra both serve as Active Duty military members. Alexandra is an Army medical-surgical nurse and Samuel is an Army Chinook Helicopter pilot. Alexandra and Samuel both met at their Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) summer training, in May 2015. They started off as friends, but their relationship began to deepen through the influence of their friends, and the written notes they shared (as phones were not allowed during their training.) By the end of their training, they had exchanged phone numbers in hopes of seeing each other in the future. Alexandra knew that this was unlikely since at that time, Samuel went to Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona, and she attended San Diego State University (SDSU) in San Diego, California, (a seven-hour drive apart!) However, Samuel was determined to make the relationship work, and pursued Alexandra like no other. Together, they made long distance work, and 3 years later, are currently still making it work, as Samuel is stationed in South Korea, and Alexandra is in San Antonio, Texas.
Their relationship has been a challenging one, but both agree it has also been one of the most rewarding and exciting times of their lives. They would not trade it for ANYTHING.
How He Asked
Samuel proposed on December 16th, 2017 at Fort Rucker, Alabama (where he was previously attending flight school.) He surprised Alexandra by blindfolding her and took her to the local lake on Fort Rucker. He had set up string lights around the lakeside trees, and at sunset, he removed her blindfold, got down on one knee and asked her, “Will you marry me?” She, of course, said, “Yes!” and they are both SO looking forward to when they can finally be married and hopefully get stationed together as husband and wife.
Samuel put a Go-Pro inside the ring box so that you could see Alexandra’s expression! You can see her ecstatic shock the minute he opens the box! Make sure to make the video HD!
