Alexandra and Brian
How We Met
In August 2012, I set sail with my family on the Royal Caribbean: Explorer of the Seas. On the first night of vacation, I went down to The Chamber, the nightclub on the ship, with my two cousins expecting to dance and have a good time. I spotted Brian Hall across the dance floor, hanging out with his eight brothers and sisters. He approached me and the rest was history. It was most-definitely love at first sight. From that night on, Brian and I were inseparable. We spent every minute of the nine-day cruise getting to know each other. When the cruise was coming to an end, we promised to stay in touch.
Brian surprised me the next day by making the trip from his home in the suburbs of Philadelphia to visit me in New Jersey.
Exactly one week later, he made it official and we started dating on August 18th, 2012. When we met, I still had two more years of college left. Brian was already in the working world, but he visited me at Penn State every weekend until I graduated in May 2014.
We did everything we could to make our relationship work. Brian and I have been together for over four years and we recently moved to Naples, Florida together for work.
How He Asked
Brian proposed to me in Paris, France on May 11, 2016. We were on vacation with my family traveling to Ireland, France and Switzerland. On our last day in Paris, Brian told me early that morning he had made dinner reservations for us before we went to the Moulin Rouge.
We got dressed and headed in an Uber to what I thought was an Italian restaurant by the Eiffel Tower. The Uber let us out at an intimate area under the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, with the most beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower and Paris. Not thinking anything of it, Brian told me one of his co-workers suggested this spot for pictures and we could walk the rest of the way to get to dinner. We took a few pictures and when I turned around, Brian was on his knee.
He kept the proposal short and sweet and of course I said yes!
We had the most gorgeous backdrop of Paris.
Brian had hired a photographer to capture our moment.
He had been planning this for a while before we left for our trip, making it the perfect moment that it was.
A few minutes after the proposal, the photographer came over to us and introduced herself.
We were able to take engagement photos for the next hour all around Paris. It was the best day of our lives.
