Alexandra and Anthony

How We Met

Anthony (AJ) and I went to school together. We met in middle school and continued on through high school, graduating in the same class. Eighth grade is when AJ first developed a crush on me, I think. We took a class field trip to an amusement park, where there were many arcade games. He really wanted a stuffed toy from a video game from one of those grabby-claw machines. I was very skilled at the game so I decided I would win it for him. I think I spent all of my food money for the day winning him that toy. I came to find out years later that he still had it! Apparently my dedication meant a lot to him then and now. We started dating in high school, went to prom together, and were sweethearts. I made a foolish mistake of breaking up with him when I went off to college. But after a year without him, I realized I had made the biggest mistake of my life and asked him back. We went to a fair and re-kindled our relationship, and have been together ever since. I can’t imagine my life without him, and I have now vowed to never let him go again.

How He Asked

We were at Disney World during the 24 hour event, where the Magic Kingdom is opened for 24 hour straight. We had previously discussed marriage, so in the back of my mind I was hopeful that this magical place would spark his proposal. But it was the last day of our trip, and it was 2:30 in the morning, so I began to become discouraged. We were riding the Walt Disney Railroad around the park, through Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Tomorrowland. When we pulled back in to Main Street station, the love of my life got down on his knee and said to me; “This is the perfect spot because it encompasses all you are to me. You are my fantasy, my adventure, my tomorrow, and my new frontier,” and then asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! We both cried and smiled for hours afterwards. It truly was the happiest place on earth! We were blessed to have a bystander take a photo..
