Allison and Mario

How We Met: Mario and I met on March 10, 2011, in of all places a tattoo shop. He and I couldn’t spend much time talking considering the circumstances, but I made sure to take every chance I got to talk to him. After hours of both of us being there and probably only 15 minutes total of being able to talk, the night was coming to an end and Mario was getting ready to leave. He came over to me and introduced himself, which was a dead give away for me that he was interested.

Mario left the tattoo shop and I instantly starting asking his tattoo artist a million questions. Who was he? Did he have a girlfriend? I needed to know him. In the middle of me asking, Mario’s tattoo artist sent him a text message letting him know I was interested. I decided to search for him on Facebook to find out more and concidentally Mario had the same idea.

Before I knew it I had a friend request from him. I was so excited. Right then the innocent flirting between messages began, then the exchange of phone numbers, the text messaging and on March 12, 2011 we had our first date. After that things began to move quickly. We started spending every moment we could together. Before I knew it we were falling in love. In April of 2011, only one month after being together we started to discuss our future, living together, marriage and children. It seemed so soon but it felt right. Our love and relationship began to grow quickly. I couldn’t see my life with anyone else and Mario felt the same way. In July of 2011 Mario and I went to visit my family jeweler and look at engagement rings. We found the perfect one and Mario knew it too! We left the jeweler and throughout the next few months engagement and marriage was a weekly discussion (more on my part since I have never been a patient person). After only 8 amazing months together, on November 12, 2011 we got engaged!

How He Asked: On Saturday, November 12, 2011 Mario and I were out running errands and buying a birthday gift for my father. It was my father’s 55th birthday and my family was going out to dinner later that night to celebrate. After hours of running errands Mario and I came home and I decided to lie down to take a nap before we went out to dinner. In the middle of my nap I was woken up by Mario kneeling down on the floor in front of the couch. I was half asleep and very confused. I kept asking him what he was doing, and why he was on the floor.

He began to say “You know I love you more than anything. You mean the world to me. Will you marry me?”

I was in such shock the only word I could get out was “duh!” I cried and we hugged then I had to pull myself together and get ready to go to dinner with my family. Mario had asked permission from my father earlier in the week, but at that point Mario hadn’t decided a day that he was going to propose. No one knew we were engaged yet and we were going to announce the news to my family at dinner. When we got to the restaurant I was keeping my left hand in my pockets and trying to keep myself composed until the right moment came to announce it.

We finally sat down at the table and my mother made a toast to my fathers birthday and then Mario said “I would like to make another toast because Allison and I are officially engaged.” Everyone screamed with excitement and the tears started all over again. That day was one of the most amazing days of my life and I cannot wait to marry my perfect man on October 12, 2012.
